Why convert the PDF first
A Kobo can open a PDF, but it shows the original page shrunk to the screen. EPUB is the format Kobo is built for: the text reflows, so you can pick the font, size, margins and line spacing, and use the table of contents to jump between chapters.
Step 1: Convert the PDF to EPUB
- Choose or drop your PDF on the converter above.
- Check the book title on the result screen — that's the name you'll see in your Kobo library.
- Click Download EPUB.
Step 2: Put the EPUB on your Kobo
With a USB cable (all Kobo eReaders)
- Connect the Kobo to your computer with its USB cable.
- On the eReader, tap Connect when it asks.
- Open the Kobo drive on your computer and drag the EPUB file into it.
- Eject the Kobo drive before unplugging. The eReader shows "Importing content" and adds the book to your library.
With Dropbox or Google Drive (supported models)
Many recent Kobo models can link a Dropbox or Google Drive account. Once linked, put the EPUB in the Kobo folder of that account and sync the eReader — the book downloads without a cable. Which models support it depends on the device and software version; check Kobo's help pages for yours.
Tips
- Check before copying. Tap Read in browser on the result screen to see the chapters. If they look wrong, switch to basic mode and download again.
- Text-based PDFs only. If you can't select the text in your PDF, it's a scan and can't be reflowed yet.
- DRM-protected files (for example from Adobe Digital Editions) can't be converted.
